The everyday phrasebook
140+ phrases you will actually use — each in English, Hindi (Devanagari) and easy romanisation, with audio in both languages. Save your favourites, then drill them as flashcards.
Audio uses your device's built-in voices. If Hindi audio sounds robotic or silent, install a Hindi voice in your phone or computer's language settings.

Drill the phrases from your selected category
Say the answer out loud before you flip. Speaking — not reading — is what moves a phrase into memory.
How to learn a phrase so it sticks
- Listen twice without reading. Notice where the stress falls.
- Shadow it — speak along with the audio, matching rhythm, not just words.
- Say it to someone within 24 hours, even a friend on WhatsApp voice notes.
- Review on day 1, 3, 7 and 21. Spaced repetition beats cramming.
Reading Hindi romanisation
We use a simple, readable style rather than a strict academic system:
- aa = long “a” as in father (आ)
- ee = long “i” as in see (ई)
- oo = long “u” as in food (ऊ)
- kh, gh, chh, th, dh, ph = breathy versions of k, g, ch, t, d, p
- n after a vowel at the end (hain, nahin) is nasal — say it through the nose.
